Description Dwayne Bailey 2005-11-28 17:44:52 UTC
In the file:
sch/source/ui/app/strings.src

There are translatable strings that use a variable %O (oh). This is confusing
to translators as it is too easily confused with %0 (zero) if you are using a
font that does not make a clear distinction betweem zero and Oh. It also does
not follow a translators expectation of seeing a number or small letter after a
% variables eg. %1, %2, %s, %d.

This has had to be corrected in every single South African translation and I
think we could save a lot of translators time and potential bugs if we fix this
to make it clearer.

I suggest using %1 which is what a translator would expect or %s. Or if needed
a full variable eg %OBJECT

Seems to be yours.
Comment 2 Uwe Fischer 2005-11-30 09:26:08 UTC
a translation methods enhancement issue, please forward as appropriate
Comment 3 petr.dudacek 2006-01-30 14:53:42 UTC
Hi Uwe,
I think this issue is referring to changing the EN source text to use a
different character to "O" (oh) eg. %1, %2, %s, %d etc so as not to confuse the
translators & possibly cause errors.
Thanks,
Ian

Comment 4 Uwe Fischer 2006-01-31 08:19:41 UTC
It's an enhancement request to the Chart source code
Comment 5 bjoern.milcke 2006-02-08 14:52:35 UTC
We will avoid this placeholder in the new chart implementation
Comment 6 bjoern.milcke 2006-06-23 14:04:53 UTC
Changed Target to 2.x
Comment 7 IngridvdM 2006-11-16 21:34:31 UTC
This will be fixed within CWS chart2mst3 as the new chart does not have those
strings anymore and the code from module sch will be removed.
Comment 8 bjoern.milcke 2007-08-01 15:48:53 UTC
Verified in master SRC680.m223.

The string "%O" only appears in old translations, the English strings that serve
as basis for the translation now have more speaking names like %OBJECTNAME.
