Description ccheney 2009-03-22 00:28:17 UTC
From the Ubuntu bug report:
"
With a line chart I have set the y axis to be a logarithmic scale. If I allow
the axis' scale to be chosen automatic it chooses to scale between 1e+0 and 1e+1
(my data is scientific format in the range 1e-40 to 1e+0). When manually
specified it is fine.

I think this problem has occurred after upgrading to the newest version of open
office (3.0.1 using the launchpad open office repository) from the current
version in the ubuntu repository. I am using ubuntu 8.10.
---
In trying to reproduce the problem I noticed that it was only an issue when one
of more of the cells were blank. See attached document.

In verifying this on official OOo 3.0.1 I noticed that if you double click on
the chart it updates the autoscale to show correctly, but it does not display
the chart correctly on initial file load.

For each chart and each other OLE object a replacement image is saved when the
document is saved. When a document is loaded normally for the OLE object only
the replacement image is displayed. Only when a chart needs to be updated for
example because the underlying values have been changed then the chart is
rendered newly.
You also can press F9 to force all charts to render freshly.
This is designed behavior.
After fresh rendering the automatic scaling is correct with the official
OpenOffice.org build for me both on windows and linux.

Closing as this is not a bug in OOo. The bug needs to fixed in the application
creating the wrong image.
