Hi, 
If the Chart Area is selected in Edit mode, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V or using the
contextual menu to copy and past, leaves an empty frame when pasting. It's ok if
the Chart is selected, or data series or not on Edit mode.
It seems to happen since 3.1.1, but I've not check in older versions. It has
been confirmed under Linux .deb version and Windows XP. Also reproducible in the
dev version DEV300mm56

Indeed it is not very useful to create an image of only the background in this
case. Better would be to create an image of the complete chart. Thanks for the
report!
