Description matuaki 2010-11-10 05:42:58 UTC
Writer crashes when I save a document as StarWriter(*.sdw) format on Windows.
I tested package OOo_3.3.0rc4_20101108_Win_x86_install_en-US.exe
I installed all Optional Components.

How to reproduce the problem

1. Install OOo_3.3.0rc4_20101108_Win_x86_install_en-US.exe.(not update from
OOo3.2.1)
2. Install all Optional Components.(Note: to save as "StarWriter 5.0(.sdw) )
3. File / New / TextDocument
4. File / Save As
5. File type select "StarWriter 5.0(.sdw)"
6. [Save]button click
7. OpenOffice.org Writer crashes

Comment 2 Joost Andrae 2010-11-10 08:50:25 UTC
cannot confirm with OOO330m14 unxsoli4.pro
Comment 3 vitriol 2010-11-10 08:57:55 UTC
I get the same crash with 3.3 RC4 under Win Vista
Comment 4 mdxonefour 2010-11-10 08:59:30 UTC
I can reproduce this issue in my Windows XP running in Virtualbox using OOO330m14.
I can't reproduce it on MacOSX running OOO330m14.
Comment 5 mikhail.voytenko 2010-11-10 09:14:32 UTC
Adjusting CC list.
Comment 6 stefan.baltzer 2010-11-10 09:16:57 UTC
I can not reproduce with WinXP. CCing myself. Questions for those who can
reproduce:
(1) Does it ALWAYS happen? (New/Loaded file, empty or with content)?
(2) Are other export formats also affected? (.sxw, .doc, .stw, .vor, .rtf)?
(3) Renaming or removing user tree - any difference?
Please comment, thx.
Comment 7 vitriol 2010-11-10 09:30:40 UTC
On my system (Win Vista HP) is reproducible with all StarWriter format (SDV,
VOR) version 5.0, 4.0 and 3.0.
No problem with other format like DOC, RTF, SXW and STW instead.
Deleting OpenOffice.org settings dir into the user profile do not solve the crash.
Comment 8 vitriol 2010-11-10 09:41:11 UTC
Saving StarWriter 5.0 SDW with OOo 3.2.1 -> OK
Trying to open SDW file with OOo 3.3 RC4 -> Crash during loading attempt
Comment 9 mdxonefour 2010-11-10 09:47:38 UTC
I can confirm everything user vitriol writes above. (happens also with new user
layer, happens also on file open of .sdw)
Comment 10 stefan.baltzer 2010-11-10 09:53:06 UTC
Now I could reproduce (different WinXP machine) both when loading and saving .sdw.
The difference in my case: This time I used a "regular" setup.exe installation
instead of "OUI tool" installation.
Looks like a broken binfilter module so far.
Two crash reports sent, saved stack data locally, will contact developer now.

Comment 12 stefan.baltzer 2010-11-10 10:02:55 UTC
Will compare with OOO330_m13 and comment.
Reassigned to OD. Put MBA on CC.
Comment 13 stefan.baltzer 2010-11-10 10:08:05 UTC
CD, MAV, TL and IS could acknowledge that the "system integration" is the key to
reproduce it.

Comment 15 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2010-11-10 11:21:36 UTC
Investigation reveals:
- Calc is also crashing on open/save of binary file format
- Impress/Draw works fine.
Comment 16 stefan.baltzer 2010-11-10 11:44:05 UTC
IS found out that the binfilter ressource files (i.e. "bf_swen-US.res") are
missing in folder \Basis\program\ressource\. Copying them there solves the
problem (I just did so). Reassigned to IS.
Comment 17 mdxonefour 2010-11-10 11:47:00 UTC
adjusting target and prio
Comment 18 ingo.schmidt-rosbiegal 2010-11-10 11:52:30 UTC
The binfilter module is not selected in a default installation. Therefore the
Module has InstallLevel 200. Unfortunately the language dependent resource files
for the binfilter are also included into a Module with InstallLevel 200. But
this resource files belong to the language module (for example en-US) and not to
the binfilter module.
The solution is, that the binfilter language module has to be handled like all
other language modules. If a language is selected the complete content of this
language has to be installed, independent from the selection of other modules,
like the applications.
Comment 19 ingo.schmidt-rosbiegal 2010-11-10 15:53:37 UTC
Fixed in cws native346.

reassigned
Comment 21 Olaf Felka 2010-11-11 11:57:30 UTC
of: The fix looks good in cws native346.
