Is there a way to change the symbols used in the legend to reflect the linetypes
being used?

Here's my problem:  I'm plotting experimental datapoints as triangles on a plot
where two analytical models are represented as solid and dashed lines without
symbols.  In the legend, the symbols used for the analytical models are squares
with the color of the drawing line.  What I really need is to be able to have a
dashed line segment and a solid line segment used in the legend.

Sorry, looks like this is a dupe of Issue 10834.  I'll try and do a
better job of searching the database next time.
