Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 14506
Convert MS PivotChart to DataPilot Chart
Last modified: 2015-05-10 19:13:25 UTC
I request the addition (soon) of pivot charts for Calc. Opening an Excel sheet of a pivot chart displays a meaningless chart with no data plotted. Attachment will follow. Thanks Matt Needles

Hi Bettina, one for you.
*** Issue 17453 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
Hello, Björn. As this concerns the interoperability, I suggest it for OO.o 2.0. But you will see. Please give approval for this evaluated OO.o 2.0 flagged issue. If you confirm with the target OO.o 2.0, then please keep it on your owner (or the owner of the concerning developer) for implementation. In case you want this issue for 'OOo Later', then please reset the target milestone. If you decline the issue finally, please set the resolution to 'Wontfix' (but do not close). In case of 'OOo Later' or 'Wontfix' please reset it on Bettina's owner. Thank you.
The implementation of pivot charts is a quite complex task. As our schedule for OOo 2.0 is already rather tight, I will postpone this after the release of 2.0.
The issue does occur for me as well.
Reassigned to Ingrid.
Rewrote summary since issue is about converting PivotCharts to DataPilot charts. DataPilot is similar to PivotChart and DataPilot is an existing feature.
accepted
Issue 4077 could be set as a duplicate of this (or vice versa). I recommend keeping this issue as it is described better than in 4077.
->thing: No, the issues are not duplicate. Issue 4077 is about what the calc has to do and this Issue 14506 is about what the chart has to do. See the component field of both Issues. Thanks.
Cannot this be closed, as this is working fine now?
->mjneedles: Using one of the latest milestones (SRC680m172) the bug still occurs for me. The chart on the second page is still empty. Which version did you use?
I just tested the file again on _m173, and got the same results as when first tested. The Pivot Chart function does not work yet. Also, the Data Pilot (Pivot Table function in OOo) does not look as nice or complete as Excel's. For example, when this workbook is opened in Excel (XP), the source table for the Pivot Table has the source data selected with a gray background, making it plain that the pivot table is based on that part of the table. Calc does not do that, rather, it leaves no visual indication of what part of the table was used to create the pivot table.
->mjneedles: Thanks for the fast response! I would like to have this issue about the wrong chart only. Could you please write another issue for the missing selection in calc to nn. Thanks a lot.
I think that issue 43460 is a duplicate from this one. Can someone confirm it and then close the issue accordingly?
No, it is not duplicate. This one is about displaying charts on pivot tables, the other one is about manipulating pivot tables via chart interface.
"DataPilot is similar to PivotChart and DataPilot is an existing feature." I disagree! What I really want is a genuine DataPilotChart i.e. one that displays the results of a DataPilot not just the cells which it currently occupies i.e. if I refresh the DataPilot and it now has extra columns (e.g. for data for a new month) the chart needs to automatically refresh also to include the data in these new cells?
OS and Platform chould be change to 'All', as this enhancement remedies a feature missing in all OOo platforms.
changed OS and platform
Thanks, Ingrid. So, how about changing the Target milestone to OOo 3.1 ?
reset to new

cc'ing myself. Pivot charts are a must-have.
We’ve tried version 3.1 and the error is still in there.
We’ve tried version 3.2 and the error is still in there.

I have OpenOffice 4.1.1 and it looks like pivot charts are still not supported. I tried to create a normal chart on the pivot table data and the chart is not very readable. Pivot chart would be a valuable enhancement for OO.
