Description dogshed 2003-09-25 08:26:06 UTC
I have a linear regression line for my data.
I go to the menu and select insert:statistics.
I click on standard deviation and then ok.
The linear regression line is no longer on my graph.

It´s not a bug, it´s an enhancement.

Tip:
Pls. select into the Statistics Dialog the Regression curves again.

TK->BH: One for you.

Hi Thomas, I cannot reproduce that behaviour, my curve keeps alive.

I just did it again and it still does it and then I tried again and it
didn't do it. I figured out that there seems to be a different dialog
box depending on where you select to get a dialog to manipulate the
data. The dialog box from the Insert menu seems to be different from
the one you get when you double click on a data point and the two
dialog boxes don't seem to be aware of what was chosen in the other one.
Here are the exact steps.
I start with two collumns of data with 6 elements each that just about
make a line.
Select the cells and choose insert chart.
Change "chart results in worksheet" from sheet 1 to sheet 2.
Hit next.
Select xy chart.
Hit next.
Leave on default of symbols only and
Hit next.
Hit create.
Switch to sheet 2 and double click on a data point so that all the
data points are highlighted and the dialog box appears.
It says "data series" in the corner and the tab is statistics.
Single click the right hand box with the graphic of the linear
regression curve and click ok.
Now you should have a linear regression curve.
Now go to the insert menu at the top of the window.
Select Insert statistics.
Select standard deviation.
This creates a smaller statistics dialog box.
Choose an indicator. Leave the regression alone. Click ok. This will
take off the linear regression curve because the "statistics" dialog
box does not seem to be aware of the choice made in the other window.

The 'Insert Statistics...' Dialog should treat the settings for regression lines
and other statistics as amboguous items, if different data series have different
settings. (using a MultiPropertyItemConverter)
Comment 9 bjoern.milcke 2004-01-13 08:48:27 UTC
Fixed in new Chart (graphics/chart2). However, this bug will be set to fixed
only if the chart is really available in the regular builds.
