Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20345
Q-PCD MSInteroperability-7
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:20:41 UTC
Product Requirement: Conversion of charts from competing office productivity suites must be improved Customer Need/Problem: Charts and graphs from/to Microsoft Excel do not convert to SO well. Product Concept: The Chart core is missing several fundamental features, that prevent a lossless import of Microsoft Excel charts. The missing features are partly incompatible with the current Chart implementaion. It is necessary to reimplement the chart core to cope with the requirements. The new Chart core will encapsulate chart type dependent code in separate UNO components with well defined interfaces, to allow easy extension. Functional Specification: see http://graphics.openoffice.org/chart/chart-architecture.sdw and http://graphics.openoffice.org/chart/chart-details.sdw

Changed Target to 2.x
@ BM: Is this for chart 2 ? which planned for OOo 2.6 ? It already 3 years old now :( I hope we can reduce some problems on OOo 2.2. Thanks
Note: This is a general issue for the reimplementation of the chart. Once the CWS chart2mst3 is integrated (planned for mid of next year) this issue will be fixed. Does it make sense to have this issue? The separate problems are handled in many other issues, and the integration of a CWS does not need its own issue. So, we should probably close this one. Main reason to close: How do you want to test this?
@bm: Yes I also think this is not testable. It's more a global direction to go and not a single task to implement. So yes, please close it.
