Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21064
Charting Data set
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:18:56 UTC
Why would it not be possible to modify data sets that are based upon existing charts. This is practically the way in which all spreadsheet applictions have functioned since Lotus 123. This seems really silly not to have included this capability. Also creating charts that contain multiple data sets that are not adjacent seems to be impossible through the existing UI. If it is possible then it is not readily apparent and help did not contain much information regarding its use. I know that this capability exists in the code since imported spreadsheets will read non-adjacet data sets and will update accordingly to modified data points.

Hi Anthony, where are major changes planed for OOo 2.0 regarding the Chart module. Making it easier to use nonadjacent cells for the Chartdata is one part of it. For now just select the range you want to be charted. Let's say A1:A10, C11:C20 and E3:E12. You only have to remember that the leftmost selection is taken as values for the X-Axis. Regarding the change of the Chart data area. just select the Chart (green Handles) and open the context menu. Select Modify Data Area and that's it. Frank
