Background can be found in issue 18316.

Settings such as label "break" are not able to have the _defaults_ changed by 
the user.  At least, not anywhere I can find.

If defaults cannot be set, then it is desireable to have these settings exposed 
during chart creation.

Hi,

select the chart (grey handles), now select the Axis or the line you
want to label / alter and select Properties from the context menu.

As this is the way you can achieve what you need, I've to close this
one as worksforme.
