Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21610
Chart axis settings are reversed in horizontal bar chart.
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:20:34 UTC
When creating a bar chart, the system default is to vertical format. Selecting horizontal format does not change the association of settings for the axes. Doug
Created attachment 10576 [details] Spreadsheet showing horizontal bar chart axis reversal problem
I hope the attachment is clearer than my initial post to this issue. When creating a vertical bar chart, the settings for the X-axis and Y-axis are correctly associated. If a horizontal bar chart is created, the associations are reversed - all settings for the chart's Y-axis must be entered through the X-axis dialogue, and so on. The labels in the attachment were generated simply by enabling the settings in the chart creation dialog without making any text entries. I hope this is making sense. Doug
Hi Bjoern, I think this is an old friend of us. Double to an internal one ? Frank
Ooopppsss, Prio and target are false. So I changed them. Frank
->Matthias: Perhaps we should change the names of the axes from "X axis" to "Category axis" and "Y axis" to "Value axis". Then the behaviour becomes clear. I think it wouldn't make sense to use the x axis title for the value-axis in the horizontal bar chart, because it wouldn't match ->Frank: I am not aware of an 'old friend', but perhaps I didn't understand this issue corretcly.
yes. I agree with Björn's proposal.
I am no longer officially active on OOo. Please take over.
