Currently gridlines for log graphing occur only at for example "1,100,1000" on
the x-axis. As an engineering having more gridlines would be essential to
useful plots. I belive this should not be hard to implement in code.
What is needed is a 'check box' option to enable the minor logarithmic
gridlines. i.e the ones between 1, 100, 1000 etc.
If this is unclear use excel for an example, i think it defaults to this option.

It would be great (I hate to say it) if there was a more excel like "smooth
curve" option for graphing, the ones used on open office tend to overshoot etc.

In OpenOffice 1.1.4 Minor gridlines are possible for logarithmic scales already:
1) Open the Axis properties dialog
- go to the tabpage 'scale'
-go to the line 'Minor interval'
-deselct the checkbox 'Automatic'
-set the spinfield to 5 (to get 5 sub intervals)
2) go to the menu 'Insert' -> 'Grids' and open the 'Grids' dialog
- check the Minor grid of your choice to be dispayed.

The second request is implicitly targeted already with Issue i20344. A new
wizard is on the way where the selection of the charttype is more easy. Smooth
lines is thought to become a checkbox for the line and xy chart types, even if
this is not yet visible in the specification.
