Description panic 2003-11-03 10:04:51 UTC
upon inserting a chart in my spreadsheet i mark the data and the text on top
of the (two) columns, choose insert/diagram and follow the wizard.
the text on top of the first column gets automatically assigned to "x-axis
title", however the text on top of the second column is NOT assigned to
"y-axis title".

Hi,

wrong component, I changed it.

Also I think it's an support request and not an Bugreport. Such
requests are handled by the Mailinglists especially User@...

Set the 'first row as label' option in the first dialog of the Chart
autopilot.

That's not the point. (it is set on my machine)
The problem is, if you set that option the value of the first cell
of the first column gets assigned to the caption (x-title) and the
value of the first cell of the second column is NOT assigned. it
reads "y-axis title" (Y-Achsentitel in german). Since the mentioned
option does not work as intended imho this has to be seen as a
(small) bug.
some (dunno if usefull) information about the diagram i want to
create (xy-diagram, no grid lines, no title, no legend)

regards

Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test
it/faster to confirm.
(Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily/need more
time)
Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is
small, but we still able to see the problem.

to see the problem, just open a new calc document,
type in some values:
first column: A, 1, 2, 3
second column: B, 1, 2, 3
highlight the values, click insert, diagramm (chart), type x,y
choose "first row as label".
You will get a diagram that has the x-axis label "A" and y-axis
label "y-axis-title".

pls have a look, esp. compare with MS.

Two reasons, why assigning column-names (names of criteria) to the y-axis don't
make sense:
1. the same column name would appear twice: at the axis and in the legend;
2. At a number of columns greater then 2 the criteria (column names) can only be
differentiated by the datapoints of the different columns.
