Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2385
import xy excel charts with series with different x-values
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:22:28 UTC
When trying to convert an Excel workbook with two dataseries in a chart Starcalc does not convert the subranged X-aksis from the second series correctly. It looks like it uses the row-number for the second series (when having the two datasets in separete sheets). When having the dataseries in the same sheet you don't even get a working chart. The following example illustrates the problem. Column A and C are the X-aksis and column B and C are two series of data. A C are time akses. A B C D 1 10 2.5 600 2 20 4.5 700 3 30 6.5 800 4 40 8.5 900 5 50 6 60 7 70 8 80 9 90 10 100 The problem occurs when converting an existing XY chart from Excel containing the two series with different X-akses. Also I have not found a way to chart the series in Starcalc. It seams like the functionallity of using two subsetted X- akses are missing. It is used very often to display two data sets from 2 csv-files with measurements from independent gauges having an overlap in time (X-aksis). In Excel you can choose individual X-akses for each data series, I can't find this in Starcalc. That, I think, would solve the problem.
Created attachment 745 [details] Two "X-akses" in Excel XY-chart.
This featute is not supported in OO. Maybe something for the new chartengine
Already on the wish list, see http://graphics.openoffice.org/chart/featurewishes.html

Isn't that somehow improved with the new chart?
Yes thanks, this is fixed with the new chart in CWS chart2mst3. The attached file loads correctly now. The missing feature was addressed with issue 3997.
