Description cdevidal2 2004-02-19 20:13:04 UTC
I need to create a chart with numbers over time. This would seem to be a common
type of chart but I could find no such mechanism in OpenOffice. See the
screenshot in the URL of the Office XP equivalent.

I had to resort to Office XP. I _hate_ using Office XP. This and a
password-protected spreadsheet are about the only things I use Office XP for
anymore. Bleh.

Thanks for an otherwise stellar product!

Yes, this is a missing feature that we should implement.

The Deutsche Bundestagsverwaltung has also demand for this feature. (request
came in via Falko) :: On the x axis just the 1st of each month should be marked.

Is there any schedule to implement this new feature?
Thanks and regards,

Can this issue be closed?

XY charts with date/time as the x-axis are supported by the new Chart module
since before OOo 3, over two years ago now.

The problem with the attached sheet/chart is caused by date/time value overflow
and is not relevant to this issue.
Comment 16 grambo 2010-06-07 16:16:33 UTC
Is there a workaround or another issue # for the date/time overflow that you
mention? I just downloaded the .ods that I had previously uploaded and it still
has the issue on 3.2.0. If there's another issue # tracking the date/time
overflow then please mark this as a duplicate of that issue.

@grambo:

> Is there a workaround or another issue # for the date/time overflow...

Since I've seen this problem in two situations now, I went ahead and filed a
report for it: see Issue 112198.

The workaround is to avoid formatting date+time values to show only the time;
use a format that includes at least part of the date. That avoids problems when
you need to edit the values, as when you manually set the axis limit.
Comment 18 IngridvdM 2010-11-24 16:07:34 UTC
Date axis will be implemented in CWS chart46. First step is to implement them
for category charts, so if categories do contain dates they will be displayed on
a date scale where the user is able to set typical date intervals like n months
or n years.

Thomas, please verify in CWS chart46.

Please make sure that import and export of normal axis still works.
Also make sure that copying charts with data from calc to impress or writer does
work properly for all axis types. Switching between different chart types needs
to be checked also. Potentially all chart types are affected by this change.
Please also have a look at the automatic range segmentation. Especially check
when 'first row or column as label' is checked when creating a chart or when
data ranges are dropped onto a chart. Ranges with values formatted as dates
should be detected as possible labels now.
Comment 24 IngridvdM 2011-01-19 18:35:31 UTC
The behavior of the charts own data table has been changed again. The toggle
button has been removed. See issue 116467.

I can't understand this topic. All I know is that the latest version for Ubuntu 10.04 won't do this using point and line chart. This version is shown as " 3.2.9, build 9483 ".

Is this simply not updated as it should be, or must I utter a magic incantation as I perform the chart function, or maybe there is something else I should do that isn't obvious???

Thanks!

Hi Roger, this feature was implemented in CWS chart46 for OpenOffice.org. If you follow the link you can see that the CWS was based on code line DEV300 and integrated into Milestone m99. Early developer snapshots of OpenOffice.org can be downloaded here for testing purposes:

I think I see that the code required has been tested and approved, and will be released in release version 3.4, eta 1-28-11 ?

I have, as far as I know, the latest version for UBUNTU LINUX, " 3.2.9, build 9483 " .

Perhaps this has already been released for Windoze, but has yet to find it's way into the Linux world? If so, is there any eta for Ubuntu?

Thanks!
