Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 36172
Cannot Change X-Axis Tick Label in Line Charts
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:22:24 UTC
Hello, Our division is migrating from MS Application into OpenOffice... we frequently use Spreadsheet document and word processor. In spreadsheet we usually use charts. Anyway my issue is that I cannot change X-Axis tick labels in a line chart. Previously on excel this could easily be done by editing the category (x) axis label of the source data. I cannot seem to do this on Calc charts. By default the x-axis tick label is "Rowxxx" which is not very descriptive when using the chart (see image below): By the way I am using OO1.1.1.

The range must include the label column, in your example $B$3:$C$6. Then check 'FirstColumn as label' in the first step of 'AutoFormat Chart'. You can discuss such problems in mailinglists and forums, see your native language project or use users@openoffice.org (start on http://www.openoffice.org/mail_list.html).
To regina... Ok.. I'm sorry I did not see it. But in your case, you have to "RE-CREATE" the chart. But when EDITING EXISTING chart, the option 'FirstColumn as label' is not available, in which what I was doing before that's why I filed the issue. I still say this still needs some improvement. Anyway thanks for the suggestions and help you made. #:-)
Issue resolved... Just some complications... Instead of changing 'FirstColumn as label' in AutoFormat Chart for existing chart... This can be found in "Modify Data Range"... Well just get mixed up... Wheew!
-> Regina: Thanks -> r_vinoya: I close it, ok?
