Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 41288
Non-ASCII text gets broken in charts exported to MS .DOC
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:20:27 UTC
If I use text with non-ASCII characters in a chart (i.e., for a label), then save the file as MSWord 97/2000/XP, then open the file with Word, non-ASCII characters get broken. Furthermore, it seems like the chart object is not even editable in MSword 2002. :/

-> DR: Your comment please. thx
any progress?
I've tested the attachment with OOo 1.9 m122 and Microsoft Word 2003. I can only partly confirm the issue. When I opened the original file in MS Word the characters really looked bad, and in OOo it was fine. However, I saved the file in OpenDocument (.ott), closed, opened again and re-saved as MS Word. The latter opened OK both in MS Word and in OOo. So, the problem may be in the user's preferences concerning MS Office compatibility (In Tools -> Options -> Load/Save -> Microsoft Office, I have all the boxes ticked). However, there's really no ability to edit the charts in MS Word.

DR->BM: The metafile for the chart seems to contain a wrong text encoding, please have a look.
This issue is no longer reproducable with OOo 2.0 beta.
no longer apparent => closed
