Description bobharvey 2005-02-12 22:11:01 UTC
XY charts created in excel do not display correctly in Calc in 1.9.77 . The
poor nature of the calc interface means they cannot be corrected.

XY charts created in calc and saved in .xls format open fine in excel. If the
file is saved in excel and re-opened in calc they still look OK. It's only
creation first in excel that causes problems.

First, thanks for the superb step by step description.

First i think its an import issue; the Datapoints are a little bit to small.
=>BM: pls take care for the new chart, that Datapoints are a little bit bigger.

The behavour of "CHANGE IN COLOUR OF DATAPOINT 1 after open and saved unchanged
by calc", I get a Format Change Message Box that the formatting cannot be saved
into Excel file format. So its changed or better its exported.

But this export issue should be fixed with CWS DR32.

I do my best...

>First i think its an import issue; the Datapoints are a little bit to small.
You are right. If I zoom right in they are there, all but invisible and the
default colours don't show up too well. Well spotted. Awfully difficult to
select the data series and alter them, though. But it can be done, thanks for
spotting that.

>But this export issue should be fixed with CWS DR32.
Cool. That's the main reason for reporting things, so they can get fixed. is
'cws dr32' related to version 2 or not?

Confirmed win OOo1.9.79 and WinXP.
Imported data points are too small and inconspicuously colored because the back
border is not shown. (I used Excel Viewer to verify and there the points are
bigger, equally colored(!), but have a black border.)

CWS dr34 contains a reworked Excel chart import filter which sets the size of
the data point symbols as they are in Excel.

Handling of data point symbols is a little bit strange in our Chart, e.g.:
- In symbol-only XY-charts the line and area style of the data series is used
for the symbols (possible to set for series and for single points)
- In line+symbol XY-charts, the line color is used for the series line and for
the area of the symbols. Changing the line color of a single data point changes
the area of this symbol. The border of the symbols cannot be changed anymore.
That's the reason that the Excel import filter does not try to set additional
symbol formatting...

I can still reproduce that the first data point becomes black after the file is
exported to Excel.

I am pleased to see that the target for 16280 is now version 2.x - should not
this be the same?
Comment 15 IngridvdM 2007-07-30 15:15:08 UTC
With the complete re-implementation of the chart module starting with version
SRC680m213 this bug is fixed.
