Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44648
Chart data selection encompassing lines and colums strangly interpreted.
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:19:28 UTC
If a chart is created from a selection that encompasses some selected columns plus one or more selected lines it interpretes this selection in a completly unpredictable way (from my point of view). See the attached spreadsheet. Such a selection is admittedly improbably, yet the result should be as one would predict it, that is, for a "data in columns" diagram: To have 8 diagram lines in the legend: Columns A,B, D,E,F,G,H, the latter 5 having just one data point. This happens with OOo1.1.4 as well as with OOo2.0beta+WinXP (and probably other OS.)

-> Matthias: The doc show formidable the reasons for the new chart. Issue 3997 contain this behavior. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3997 ***

@kla In my opinion this is not a duplicate of issue 3997. Issue 3997 is an "improvement" concerning with selecting multiple ranges of x values for XY charts. That is a needed enhancement indeed, but has not much to do with this issue for two reasons. - This issue is imho a bug, since the chart interprets a not too ambigous selection of cells in a completely arbirary and (for me) not comprehensible way. - This issue is not talking about XY charts. But I'll respect You choice.
