creating a chart on 800 rows, 15 columns, text, dates and integers mixed for 
example, takes 30 seconds on a P4M 1.8GHz - awfully long with no possibility to 
cancel. performance should be at least such that your computer will not hang 
for an hour if you hit the wrong button.
