Description bigserpent 2005-04-05 12:50:49 UTC
It would be nice to have the ability to investigate chart (like XY plot) without
modifying its range. If the chart has a lot of points (200+ is enough) any
details can't be seen.
Some programs have the ability to investigate graphs with Shift and Ctrl
modification keys f.i. Holding Shift while selecting some rectangular area
within the graph makes this area as the view (crops and magnifies the crop to
the whole view). Pressing shift and clicking on the plot returns it to the
initial (full range) stage. Holding Ctrl while dragging snaps the plot area
(initial zoom or already zoomed with Shift).
This could be a very convenient way to investigate or represent data without
need to change the range every time.

Because of limited resources we have to retarget this issue to a next release.
=> change to 'OOo later'

And what about the new Chart engine which was promised for OO 2.0 and postponed
for OO later? In what OO version then new chart is to be implemented?

I know this is not a perfect solution, but you can use the normal zoom to
examine chart details without any need to edit the chart.
Use the zoom functionality of the status bar. That's fastest.
Thanks for the suggestion.

This seems to be a useful feature. I put it on my list.
