Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 52800
Values of hidden cells shoud be visible in charts.
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:18:53 UTC
Hi. I have a ods file that have 3 sheets. In sheet1 I have DataPilots that bring values from my database (mdb file through odbc connection) and show them in cells (lets say a5 to a10) In sheet3 I have a chart from these values (sheet1.a5 to a10) If I want to leave only the buttom to update the datapilot and hide all values from my screen, I lost my chart. Seems chart can only be made from cells that are not hidden. If this is true (and I'm not wrong) I think this should be fixed before 2.0. My opinion. Thank you. Hwoarang using: m122 + pt_br language pack win98se pt_br
I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m122) German version WIN 98SE: [680m122(Build8941)] and can confirm the reported effect: After hiding the data rows the chart is more or less empty. Here the behaviour of 2.0 differs from 1.1.4, where the diagrams in the chart remain visible. Bug or feature (I believe: feature!)?
Sorry, can't reproduce. After hiding cells the content are also hide (as expected). Only the axis and the legend are visible. (also as expected) Also i can't see any differences between 1.1.4 and 2.0. Pls attach the doc to reproduce.
reply to "Additional comments from kla Wed Aug 17 00:54:06 -0700 2005" I can confirm all details of your investigations concering 2.0, but in 1.1.4 the disply of the curves remained even with hidden data table (hidden by context menu, I tested one document).
Rainer, please give an detailed step by step discription (incl. Charttype) We are not able to reproduce the behaviour. If possible try to reproduce on 1.1.5 rc. Best attach the doc. Thx
as reporter, I attaching a simple file that can reproduce the behavior (at least here). using my file, try to hide any row (1, 2 or 3) and you'll see that chart will lost the columns. In my first case, I was using data from a DataPilot (from a native query). My intent was to leave just the "buttons" that trigger the DataPilot update and hide all data from Sheet1 (all my 3 charts are in Sheet2). But when I hide the data from Sheet1 the charts from Sheet2 loses all columns. I hope my file can help you to reproduce. Hwoarang
Created attachment 28850 [details] simple Calc document that reproduces the behavior
Reply to 'comments from kla Wed Aug 17 02:46:24 -0700 2005': Funny thing, currently I am not able to reproduce my obeservation that curves stay in 1.1.4. I tried again with the same testfile and as I believe in the same way, and now the curves disappear in 1.1.4, too.
Thx Hwoarang, that behaviour is what i expected and the correct one. Hidden Cells does not shown into the Chart. But i see no differences between 2.0 and 1.1.4 as Rainer submitted.
Hwoarang -> kla > that behaviour is what i expected and the correct one. > Hidden Cells does not shown into the Chart. Well, I can agree that this is not a defect but a enhancement instead. But I can't agree that this is the correct behavior. I just can't figure out why (not in technical way) charts can't use hidden cells. If you can't accept this as defect, please change the issue type to enhancement or feature. Thank you. Hwoarang
Kla->Hwoarang: Hm, i think it's make not really sence. Maybe an Radiobutton to switch between shown an hide of hide cells into an Chart. So i change Prio and Type.
More meaningful summary for dnhancement request. I would _not_ like such behaviour! Hidden cells should be hidden for any function: - no search - no regard for calulation (sum in range ...) - no deletion for hidden cells if you dlete range - not shown ich charts!

As one can see from the comments in this issue there are different wishes about the behavior here. A possibility to choose the behavior will be implemented with issue 91578. In fact in the current version (dev300m23) values from hidden cells are displayed. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 91578 ***
