Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58404
Improve "Autoformat Chart" Dialog in Calc
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:20:12 UTC
Hi, in my opinion the dialog for autoformatting charts could be improved, especially the page where the user can choose between different chart-types. 1) Make it possible to resize the dialog, so you may see all of the types at once. 2) Show a short description of the chart-type beside the icon. If you don't know, it's very hard to get a x-y-chart, so in past I thought this is impossible. because the icon shows dots what I do not associate with x-y-charts. (See attached image and Issue 14784, where the user had the same problem) 3) what about a "real" x-y-chart with a axes-cross (in the middle) and arrows at the top/right of the axes? The cross might be a good icon, too. Like this one: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Quaddratische_Funktion_mit_a_kleiner_1.png I miss this type for mathematic/scientific charts. Thanks a lot, Sven

Reopen Issue because of wrong duplicate setting.
This issue is a duplicate to Issue 20344 not to Issue 26537. Issue 20344 is about simplifying the creation of charts. A new Wizard (Autoformat Dialog) is one part of that issue. If you like you can have a look at the specification (under construction) for the new creation process and a new Wizard at http://specs.openoffice.org/chart/wizards/NewChartWizard.sxw . Chapter 6 contains some screenshots of the new Wizard. The main charttypes are now listed with a small icon and a text. Line charts and XY charts are listed as neighbours so it will be much more unlikely that you will overlook the one or the other. Comments are welcome in Issue 20344. By the way please do put only one task in one Issue. Thanks a lot. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 20344 ***
