Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6236
Plotting multivalued functions
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:21:31 UTC
I would like to use OO instead of Excel to do scientific data analysis. When plotting functions, I sometimes have to plot datasets which have more than one y value for a given x value (specifically, cyclic voltammetry data). When I try to plot a dataset, OO tells me that the X column has to be sorted. Unfortunately, doing so would destroy the dataset, as it is the hysteresis that is interesting. I could break the data up into several datasets, but this can be tedious when I have 5-10 plots that I'd like to stack on top of one another(and Excel doesn't have this problem).
To duplicate this without cyclic voltammetry data, I'd basically like to be able to plot a circle with one dataset in an XY plot.
Hi Falko, one for you.

It is possible already to create xy plots with more than one y value on a x value like a circle for example. You just need to click 'No' on this buggy dialog which wrongly tells you to sort the x data. So I set this issue to 'WORKSFORME'. To correct the dialogs behaviour there exsist another Issue 46521. Thank you for your input.
