Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 62365
Choose how to handle empty cells in charts
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:19:51 UTC
For the new chart engine, I would like an option that would let the user choose how to plot empty cells from a chart data range. In Excel, for some type of charts, you can choose to leave a gap for empty cells, to assume the missing value is zero, or to interpolate. (it is available in "Tools" Menu, "Options..." Menu item, "Chart" Tab). For some other type of charts, Excel does not plot the empty cells at all (that is, there is no gap for empty cells). It would be great to be able to choose how charts should handle empty cells in OpenOffice. In OOo 2.0.1, empty cells leave a gap in the chart. I think that the default way to handle cells should be to leave gap if the empty cells are in the middle of non-empty cells, but to not plot empty cells that are in the beginning or the end of the chart data series. In this way, if the chart data range is simply bigger than a non-empty data range, only the non-empty part will be plotted. Regards, greenslach. *** I also submitted another issue about empty cells and charts: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=62363 (but this one is a bug that prevents selecting empty cells in charts when modifying them but not creating them)
Hi Greenslach. Thx to support OOo-Chart. Yes, the "probs" with handle of blank/empty cells are well known. As I remember i3411 is the first issue who deal with the handle of blank cells. Iha is on track to fix the probs into the new chart. See also: http://graphics.openoffice.org/chart/featurewishes.html So it's an enhancement and double. I close it. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3411 ***
