Description lars 2002-07-04 01:10:43 UTC
this doesn't happen on my original system, but on another one, with a different
printer (an HP Deskjet), to which I copy my files created on my system.

Also the text isn't lost, it's just not printed; selecting "edit chart" and
exiting chart-edit-mode gives text back; also new print jobs don't create the
problem again (just when printing after 1st opening).

Hi Lars,

this seems to be a problem with your printer driver as you have found
out by yourself. We can't deal with problems like this.

Also if you have a problem with a chart please set the component
correctly.

invalid
Comment 3 lars 2002-07-04 10:02:33 UTC
it actually looses the text in the displayed file in OO too; only
after double-clikcing the chart, the text appears again (in OO; and
printing it then doesn't cause the error again).

can a printer driver cause that? if yes, might it be worth a thought
to change the printer interaction interface in OO (because it may be
related to the fact that there is a different printer installed on my
original system)?

and there should be a certain amount of printer-independance
(also you can imagine how much extra time and work such things always
cost ... ?)

Hi Lars,

I've tried it with several printers including at least two different
Deskjets. Nothing happened. All titles containing Minus signs are
printed correctly.

It seems to be a problem on your machines. We can't solve such Issues
so please ask a computer specialist for assistance.

I close this Issue as WORKSFORME.

I've access to 2 printers myself and it only happens when printing to
a deskjet 930 C.
Perhaps of interest would have been that on the hp prnt system the
resolution is 1024x768 while on the machine where the doc. was
created the res. is 1280x1024.

But I have no problem with this issue being closed as it probably is
printer-specific (and I have no itention currently myself to try all
combin. to "solve" the prob.).

I've tested it further:

it seems to always occur under the following circumstances:

Use "print" (not "print directly") and select the highest print
quality.

Charts within the current on screen displayed part "receive" this
problem.

It does not occur with other print quality options.
It does not occur when the highest print quality option is already
set for this document.

It does not occur anymore when chart has been entered and exited
after printing made the error occur, so that text reappears.

It seems to be independant from the printer associated with the
document in the document.
It seems to be independant from the screen resolution.

Perhaps set the standard printer print quality option to lowest
(control panel->printers-><your printer>->...) before opening the
document.

It occurred on 2 inkjet printers: Lexmark Z32 and HP Deskjet 930C.

Test document attached.

As it seems to be due to OOo, I'm reopening.

System: both Win98 SE german; AMD CPUs, OOo german 1.0.0
