Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 67321
in XY charts, Y axis vanishes for certain data
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:22:43 UTC
In this odd bug, the Y axis of an XY chart is not displayed or keeps vanishing after each change. Thre bug occurs only for certain data in the X column. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open an empty spreadsheet. 2. Enter the following data in the first two columns: 0.850 23 0.920 12 0.970 13 0.990 12 0.997 15 0.999 17 1.000 13 1.001 15 1.003 16 1.010 12 1.030 11 1.080 9 1.150 11 3. Select the data, and choose "Insert"|"Chart" from the menu. In the wizard, select "XY chart" and leave everything else at the defaults. 4. Notice, that the plot appears without Y axis. 5. Click on the chart, select "Insert"|"Axes" from the menu, check "Y axis" and click "Ok". The Y axis appears. 6. Make any change, e.g. change some data in the second column. The Y axis vanishes again. The bug seems to depend peculiarily on the data in the first (X) column. If I use very different values, the bug does not appear.

Hi Björn, pls have a look.
Woha! This is a really, really strange bug! The axis is indeed not there. And when you enable it, next time you activate the chart it vanishes again. Also, the automatic scaling does not work. The first y-value (23) is missing in the maximum-calculation. As this strange bug does not appear in the new chart implementtion, I would suggest not to fix in the old chart code.
BTW., if you are interested in a current development snapshot of the new implementation, check out http://graphics.openoffice.org/chart/chart.html
