Create a new Line Chart with symbols
The symbols are to large
Comment 1 bjoern.milcke 2006-08-01 15:13:59 UTC
Aha.

Well, I think the symbols are too small in the old chart. The default size for a
default chart (7x8cm) is 0,32cm, which I find ok. However, when selecting a new
symbol, you get one with size 1,03cm. This is definitely too large.

Well, have to think about a new size ...

Comment 3 bjoern.milcke 2006-08-02 17:45:53 UTC
Symbol Size was 9ptx9pt before. Changed this to roughly 7ptx7pt. Exactly 0.25 cm
(before 0.32).
When selecting a different symbol, the size is now also 0.25cm instead of 1.03 cm.

However what's strange: 0.25cm as size at the shape lead to 0.28cm (the 1.03cm
were 1cm originally). Couldn't find an explanation for the additional space. Now
the size is set to 0.22cm internally, which yields 0.25cm (but probably not
exactly). Very strange (behaviour of the drawing-layer, or maybe the line-tabpage).

Note: Won't fix this strange behaviour, instead we should ignore the size when
setting a symbol, thus keeping the former size. Exception: bitmaps, esp. with
different aspect ratio.

Note: the second paragraph of the last comment just refers to internal details,
it's nothing a user has to deal with.
Comment 5 bjoern.milcke 2006-11-01 13:14:01 UTC
->fst: Please verify in Milstone 9 if the symbols have the "right" size now.
Comment 6 frank 2006-11-03 09:04:08 UTC
i'm convinced that the current size is Ok. For squares it could be smaller
(about 0.15 cm) but this would make triangles and other symbols looking to
small. So this is fixed in mst9

changed target to 2.3
Comment 8 IngridvdM 2007-03-01 20:30:28 UTC
adapted summary to issue type
Comment 9 frank 2007-04-10 14:07:47 UTC
found fixed on cws chart2mst3 mst12 using Linux and Windows build

If I use Icon > Select > Symbols the default value is 0,25cm. If I use Icon >
Select > Automatic, the value is 0,22cm. Shouldn't it be the same?
If I open an old chart, which has set the symbol to Automatic, the new size in
chart2 is 0,25cm.

I use OOo680m213 on WinXP.

For newly created docs, the new size might be OK (IMHO a little big, but
well..), but retro fitting that size to charts from old documents makes some of
them really distorted.

Prelim. verified in 680 m215, closing.
As of the QA IRC discussion, the .25cm - .22cm problem is to be tackled in
another issue.
