Description wrobers 2006-11-13 08:56:24 UTC
Hi,

First: I'm not sure if this is the right place to suggest enhancements. Please
mail me to tell me if I'm bugging the wrong person.

For Calc:
I use Excel a lot because it can make graphs easily. Especially trenlines.
In Open Office trenline support is very bad, sorry.

Enhancement suggestion:
1 Include trendline support as in Excel
2 Make it even better by including:
- Auto-trendline: The system guesses what type of function (exp, log, polynome)
matches best.
- Fourrier transform

I hope this helps.

wrong component, probably a double and you can use the LINEST, LOGEST, INTERCEPT
and SLOPE functions to get the trendlines calculated.

There do exist several issues for regression lines or error bars already:
-Issue 5085: extrapolation of regression curves.
-Issue 7998: display of regression curve parameters.
-Issue 20819: add polynomial regression type.
-Issue 8877: allow constant error bar values smaller than 0.1.
Please check wether your request for general enhancement is targeted with one or
more of those issues. If not please submit specific issues which one request in
one issue only. Otherwise it is to complicated to work on.
There is already one mega issue 5289 around regression lines which will probably
never get fixed as it does contain to many different requests. Please don't
start another mega issue for this area. Thanks a lot.

->wrobers: When you are ok with it, I close this issue as duplicate as there do
exist a lot of issues already for trendline enhancements. For the more specific
other requests you have I would like to bed you to submit separat issues with
some more information of hat you want to do. Especially the Fourrier thing does
not fit very well into the trendline concept I would say. Maybe it would be
better to request this as a calc operation so you can then create a normal chart
from that calculated data afterwards? Thanks a lot.
