The labels on the X axis are moved from vertical to horizontal between Calc and
Excel.

confirmed on OOo 2.1, win xp, office 2003. 
Vertical text become horizontal text on OOo (Month)
the vertical text needed when the text is long, do did not disturb the chart

The axis labels in Excel are rotated automatically. OpenOffice chart in contrast
does have some other automtisms to  place the labels on axes. Maybe we can
introduce an additional automatism to rotate labels if there is not enough space
to display them all side by side. Details have to be specified how this
automatism should work together with the alredy existing automatisms (staggering
and break).
