Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71784
new chart: better name for data series in stock chart
Last modified: 2013-09-25 20:41:42 UTC
Open a stock chart, which was generated in OOo2.1, for example use the document, which is attached to issue 71782. In the old stock chart you find in that document in the legend the entries Höchst (means High), Tiefst (means Low) and Schluss (means Close). On import the new modul sets the data series name "Schluss", which is wrong in content. (Schluss corresponds to the Candlestick Marker close.) It would be better, to use a combination of the name "Höchst" and "Low". In the mentioned example the name should be build from range $D$1:$E$1, which would be right for a legend of a Candlestick.
regina, can you please attach simple file to show the problem. Thanks
@IHA: maybe a good idea.
->utomo99: Open the example document in issue 71782 with the new chart module and doubleclick the chart for editing to actualize the view. On the right side is a picture how it looks in the old chart module.
I confirm this problem with Chart2m10
->bm: Please take over.
Accepted. The old legend entries were not very useful. The idea of the new behavior is to have one name for the entire series, which usually is the stock symbol (like SUNW). As Close is the most important sequence needed by all stock types, we chose that sequence as the one holding the name. I think it doesn't make much sense to have the words "Open, Close, Min and Max" in the legend. Also having "Open High Low Close" as one string seems not very informative to me. The graphics should make clear what they represent. If you want to explain what the minimum is, like "the minimum number of events that were measured", you would either need some separate text with that explanation, or we would need a legend symbol showing the minimum value to make clear what this text belongs to.
