Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 75725
offer a vertical x axis and horizontal value axis also for line charts (not only for bar charts) (allow swapping axes)
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:22:43 UTC
OOo lacks currently the ability to draw *Dot Plots*, which makes professionally looking graphs more difficult to create. A *Dot Plot* is a superior alternative to the *Bar Plot*. For an extended discussion see http://www.b-eye-network.com/newsletters/ben/2468. ADVANTAGES: - less cluttered - better view of the data - great advantages when depicting *multiple groups of data* - better view for *Non-zero baseline* - *labeling* advantage when compared to the classic vertical bars of bar-charts See the pictures on the site and judge yourself (especially figures 4, and 5 and 6 are interesting).
@IHA: pls "judge Yourself"
OOo does offer *Dot Plots* in general. Use the sub type "Points Only" for Line or Scatter charts. What is missing is the ability to have a vertical category axis and a horizontal value axis for line and scatter charts. I changed the summary to reflect this.
