Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76430
New Chart: bad illumination default setting
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:18:47 UTC
Open a new impress and insert a new 3D chart with standard illumination settings. The chart looks dark and grey because the illumination is set too far in the back. There is no direct light onto the front where the user looks and where the information is located. The default illumination seems to be taken over from the old 3D dialog. But a chart has different needs. Therefor the default settings should be changed. A new chart looks very unattractive the way it is.
kla cc'ed.
->wg: Do you maybe have a proposal or example that you find good looking? Thanks.
Created attachment 44478 [details] Dokument with a possible alternative light positioning
Document with a possible light source placement attached.
Fixed in CWS chart06
New illumination defaults were chosen. For details look at the specification: http://specs.openoffice.org/chart/Chart3DViewDialog.odt. Please at least check newly created 3D charts of the types column, bar, pie and line in simple and realistic look with and without right-angled axes. Some other defaults were adapted also to fit the new look: walls: no filling, 30% gray border floor: 20% gray filling legend: no filling, no border axis: 30% gray lines
