Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 77345
chart - After saving a Diagram in .xls-Format and reloading OO, the user-changed symbols switch back to standard.
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:22:01 UTC
I've made a xy-diagram in Calc, OOo 2.2.0. In the diagram, I've changed the standard symbols to some grafics (blueball.gif, yellowball.gif ...). After saving the table in .xls-Format, reloading OO and reloading my table the symbols switched back to standard.
thomas_kramps, please supply sample file by attaching it to your issue.
I checked with "2.2.1 Multilingual German version WIN XP: [680m18(Build9161)]" and was not able to reproduce the problem. Closing issue due to reporter's inactivity. Pls. feel free to reopen this issue if you find out that the problem is still existing with a current stable OOo version and if you can contribute requested additional information.
I again checked with "2.2.1 Multilingual German version WIN XP: [680m18(Build9161)]" and now WAS able to reproduce the problem. Steps to reproduce: 1. open attached "mytest.ods", where you see green stars as symbols in one graph 2. save as .xls 3. close document. 4. reopen .xls expected: "Column C" line should have green stars as symbols actual: "Column C" has yellow quads as symbols
Due to 'Additional comments from rainerbielefeld Tue Jul 17' Chart in .xls looks similar in OOo and MS EXCEL VIEWER, problem visible with both applications.

Hi, not a bug in Calc but a missing feature in Excel. It'*s simply not capable to use user defined symbols in it's Charts. Therefore closed invalid. Frank
