Description timi_openoffice 2007-06-27 14:46:05 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
- open the attached document
- double click on the chart for editing the chart
- right click on the colored diagramm, "object properties...", "data labels"
- disable "show value" or change it to "as number": this changes won't have any
effect!

Tested on openSUSE 10.2 with ooo-dev2.3 (m217), but also with StarOffice 8
(there: chose in the main menu "Insert"->"Data label") and OOo 2.2.0 (2.2.0 on
openSUSE 10.2 and also on Windows XP) (so it is a bug of the old _and_ of the
new chart implementation).

confirmed for this bugdoc. With an new created Chart its work fine. Also its
possible to disable the Data label for each single Data Point.
Maybe a prob. with the chart in a Frame?
@IHA: pls have a look.

>> With an new created Chart its work fine.

That's right. The chart comes from a longer text I've written. I've created the
chart and could easily change the options for the labels. When finished the
text a week later, I wanted to change the chart labels from percent-values to
numbers and it didn't worked any longer. As there is a whole week where I
didn't touched the chart, but only the text, I don't know when exactly occured
the problem.

>> Maybe a prob. with the chart in a Frame?

I've tried out how it works when putting the chart directly on the page (and
deleted the sourrounding frame). It stays the same problem (tested with
StarOffice 8 update 6 on openSUSE 10.2).

When saving and reloading the behavior changes because on save each data point
in a pie gets it's own color and is an attributed point then.
We have this old problem, that changing the series attributes does not have an
effect, for attributed data points.
As a workaround you can set each data label for each point. That's not nice, but
possible at least.

Fixed in CWS chart07 as follows:
You can now use the "Data Labels" dialog (Menu Insert->Data Labels...) to change
all data labels at once - even those labels that was set for a single point will
be changed accordingly.

Hm strange, I tried again and couldn't reproduce that saving and reloading does
change the behavior. Can it be that you changed the single pie segments separately?
In the current feature set it is correct that changing the series properties
does not overwrite single point properties. Thus when you change each single
point of the pie separately you will not see any effect when changing the
according series property. This is not special for data labels but applies to
all properties.

The problem also is present when you don't change the individual labels. I
think the problem occures when you've changed the diagram type befor.

Steps to reproduce:
- start StarOffice 8 (SP 6)
- file -> new -> text document
- insert -> object -> diagram
- in the appearing dialog click on "terminate" (?)(in german: "fertig stellen")
- double-click on the diagram for editing it
- format -> diagram type
- stay with 2d, change type to circle, stay in variant "normal" and click on
okay
- insert -> data labels
- check the checkbox "show value" and leave the radio button at "as number",
then click on okay
- close StarOffice. You will be asked if you want to save the document. Save
it.
- open StarOffice
- file -> recently used -> "your document"
- double-click on the diagram
- insert -> data label
- change the radio button from "as number" to "as percent"
- this doesn't has any effect!

(PS: For the next 2 weeks I'm in vacations and can't respond.)

Ah, thanks. Also this scenario is solved now when using the new Office Version
containing this fix.

Thomas, please verify in CWS chart07.
