Description avagula 2007-08-25 08:17:34 UTC
In dialog Insert - Title it is possible to insert special characters, although
some of them are not displayed properly, like symbols for square and cube
operations. See attached screenshot, instead of symbol little dot is placed
over title.

forgot to tell, that these are character U+F007 and F008, not 00B2 and 00B3,
and these are not displayed in any chart title.

sorry, problem is elsewhere - rather in insert special character dialog. when
inserting special character to dialog field, only characters for font verdana
are available and font dropdown is grey. Feel free to reassign when needed.

First set the font in the object properties of the title, then use 'insert
special character'. Then you get the chosen font. As far as I know, it is not
possible to mix fonts in such fields.

If a character is available in Unicode, you should use it. What you will get, if
you use a character of the private area U+E000 to U+F8FF, depends on the font.
Using 'private' characters will always lead to problems, when documents are
moved to a machine where that special font is not available.

I think that there is no defect.

Yes, it's right that titles only may use one font. There is also another problem with edit fields (not only in
chart, but everywhere) that you can only insert special characters of the UI font, not of the font in which
the title will later be displayed.

So, insert the title first, change the font to the one you want to use, add special characters then via the UI
edit mode (double-click on the title instead of using the Insert/Title dialog).

Maybe a good idea
Comment 7 IngridvdM 2008-08-28 08:34:51 UTC
In my eyes the attached picture shows a bug in the display of the titles within
the chart view and not within the dialog.
It could be that this is a duplicate to issue 88376. It is fixed in version
DEV300m29.
@vagula, maybe you can try it on your system? You can download the developer
version DEV300m29 or newer here:
http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html
Comment 8 IngridvdM 2008-08-28 08:50:07 UTC
Ah sorry, I need to correct myself. The fix for issue 88376 is still not
integrated into the product, so it is not possible to check so far. It will be
integrated with CWS vcl93.
Comment 9 avagula 2008-08-28 08:50:36 UTC
looks like ok now
Comment 10 avagula 2008-08-28 11:31:59 UTC
uups, sorry. checked on windows, issue was reported about Linux
Comment 11 hdu@apache.org 2008-09-09 08:58:25 UTC
assigned to "unassigned"? Strange...
Comment 12 IngridvdM 2008-09-09 12:08:11 UTC
Now the fix for issue 88376 is integrated in versions OOO300m4 (branch on the
way to OpenOffice.org 3.0) and DEV300m31(branch on the way to OpenOffice.org 3.1).

@vagula, a download containing the fix is now available,
( http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html )
so you might try it on your system. Issue 88376 was a UNIX only problem as this
issue.
