Description drking 2007-10-20 05:17:22 UTC
If you copy (or cut) a chart and paste it somewhere else, the new chart does
not update when the data in the data table is changed. It is simply an image of
the original chart.

However if you then right-click on the new chart and choose 'edit', and exit
(even without making any edits), the new chart will ever after update correctly.

Excel97 handles this correctly.

It could be important because Calc has no option to place a chart on another
sheet at the end of the chart dialog (as Excel97 does) - so a user might well
try the cut/paste route (and this is how I found it)

wrong component and most probably a double. Changed to Chart and re-assigned.
Comment 2 Regina Henschel 2007-10-20 19:18:02 UTC
If you force recalculating with F9 the chart is updated and it will update
automatically if you change data afterwards.
If you do not use F9 at least one time, it is not updated.
I use SRC680m233.
(I do not find a duplicate.)

@kla
I believe that regina's point is that she has also found the bug:
"If you do not use F9 at least one time, it is not updated."

So two of us can reproduce it. If you can't reproduce it, it may be specific to
some systems? I'm using XP, and have again verified the bug exists.

If you decide that this is acceptable behaviour (ie that the chart does not
update until F9 or an edit) I shan't fight you ;) but for now I've re-opened
the issue for re-consideration. Many thanks.

Comment 6 kla 2007-11-19 14:47:12 UTC
Re-consideration results: First time it's only works if you recalculate by using
F9. Second and all other Time it works as aspected.

@BM: Maybe this issue will be fixed with fix for i83762.

adapting target
Comment 10 bjoern.milcke 2008-05-27 18:17:48 UTC
seems to be fixed in DEV300m2 (Mac)
->KLA: Please verify that this bug is fixed.
Comment 11 bjoern.milcke 2008-05-27 18:19:42 UTC
setting to fixed
Comment 12 drking 2008-05-27 22:58:06 UTC
In OOo2.4 WinXp I cannot now reproduce the bug. So agree it seems to be fixed
somehow.
i83762 may be irrelevant, as this was not ready for 2.4.
