Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 83678
New charts size goes berserk when pasting in writer
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:27:45 UTC
Open the attached file "misbehaving chart.odg". You'll find a group object made in calc with a chart and a few text objects. In the odg document the object is displayed OK. Now copy it and paste it into a writer document: unfortunately its whole size remains the original one, and the text objects are correctly placed, the chart has shrinked considerably and now is more or less half the desired size. In the object as seen in Writer, it occupies the upper left corner. To have it sized correctly in the writer doc, you have to ungroup it there and resize the chart manually.
Created attachment 49674 [details] File with chart that get wrongly sized when pasted into a writer doc
I checked with "2.2.1 Multilingual German version WIN XP: [680m18(Build9161)]" and also "OOo-dev 2.3.1 WIN XP: [680m8(Build9236)]". I can confirm the problem with both versions. With my own test chart, the effect that the size of the text element group will differ from the one of the chart also happens when I copy from DRAW to CALC; this effect is not visible with "Misbehaving chart.odg".
@BM: One copy and paste issue more.
This seems to be a general problem with pasting OLE objects inside a group into Writer. It also happens with an embedded Calc instead of a Chart. ->OD: please have a look, or forward to someone responsible
Grouped embedded objects are not supported in Writer. Thus, on copy-and-paste the embedded objects of a group are converted to graphics. It seems that the conversion algorithm has a defect - it looses the original size of the embedded object. Further investigation needed.
Due to limited resources re-target to OOo 3.1
