Forcing the points in an xy graph to be in ascending order greatly limits its 
utility, especially in terms of using lines between the points.  Many times 
with these graphs it is desirable to show phenomena such as historesis.

Hi mtrantham

Nobody is forcing you to sort the points to ascending order.
You can ignore the stupid dialog "X axis values must be sorted. Sort them now?".
Just click "No" and it's fine.

I will close this issue, mainly because it is more or less a duplicate of the
(newer) issue 46521 and partly because I cannot confirm the described.

Should you think I misunderstood the problem, feel free to reopen the issue.
