Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 9525
OOo crashes while trying to draw an XY plot from spreadsheet data
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:20:33 UTC
OOo crashes while trying to draw an XY plot from spreadsheet data. Sometimes a crash occurs while using the plot tool to select data an draw a chart. Even worse, a saved spreadsheet crashes when I try to open it. Then, all data is lost because I can no longer open the spreadsheet. Upon request, I will send a copy of a .sxc file that cannot be opened. Regards, Bill
Created attachment 3752 [details] This .sxc file crashes spreadsheet while drawing XY plot.
I take it
I see two OLE-Objects. One (Object6) looks like corrupt. Try to give an detailed information how do create this document and what kind of type the maybe corrupted OLE is.
I have copied columns of tab-separated data from a text window by highlighting it in the text window and pasting into the spreadsheet using mouse button 2. I have columns with about 110 entries per column. Column A represents X data, other columns are Y data in an XY plot. I am using the chart creation tool ( Insert -> Chart ) and filling in the options. The only thing I select that isn't default is X-axis grid lines. I am selecting an XY plot with cubic spline interpolation beteween the data points. If you cannot recover spreadsheet data (aside from the OLE objects) from the file that I sent, I can EASILY create data that will cause this problem and send it along to you. Sorry for the late response. Last Thursday was a holiday. Regards, Bill
Hi Bill, as you have found out by yourself, the document is corrupted. If you use the OOo1.0.1 you can open the file again. Just delete the SvInPlaceObject and save the file again. Now you have a fully functional document. To find out what's going on, please attach a file with your text data. Best regards Frank
It's mine
No Action for more then a month. So I assume this is not a bug and I close it as INVALID Frank
