Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 76728
new chart : wizzard : chart type icons are same for line and XY
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:21:59 UTC
Hello, I'm testing ooo_chart2_milestone11_windows. In the wizzard, the icons for the different chart types are the same for Line and XY. This may be confusing. In the new chart, subtype icons are different from Line and XY (which is a great improvement from old chart, cf. issue 67849). But when wizzard opens, you can not see any difference between the two types, and you may choose the wrong one. Thank's.
Yes, the difference between Line charts and XY charts is a problem to a lot of users. In the old chart the different icons did pretend that the difference is having either lines or points, what was wrong. The difference is that the Line-Chart uses categories at the x-axis whereas the XY-Chart uses numerical x values. Do you have a proposal for different icons maybe?
Created attachment 44735 [details] I'm far from beeing an artist! But here is an idea of what Line (unchanged) XY icons may be.
Thanks :-) ->sts: Could you maybe create us an additional icon for the xy charttype? We need something similar to typepointline_16.png but in contrast to that icon the points should not be equidistant and the lines should not only go from left to right but should change the direction somewhere. Thanks a lot.
STS -> IHA: I will create this new icon together with the new upcoming default icon set (Galaxy). Hope you could wait a little while ;-)
set target to 3.x
@sts, thanks for the icon! I take the issue back for further handling.
Fixed in CWS bubblechart.
->Thomas, please verify in CWs bubblechart. The xy chart type has an own icon now.
verified in CWS bubblechart, follow up issue i102993 written
