Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 95451
Problems with data labels (mostly in 3D mode)
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:20:05 UTC
I'm working in designing a chart for some data. If I choose non-3D, then the default settings produce a fine result for data labels (the values themselves). However, if I choose 3D, I have found no way that the data label is placed outside the colored draw, so it can be viewed regardless any color setting you choose and is not obscured. Anyway, it looks like choosing other options for the placement of labels like "afuera" (I guess the english name should be "outside"), "arriba" ("above") don't produce any difference. Maybe "outside" was intended for this and, for some reason, doesn't work properly, in whose case just reviewing the way this option is doing its work is enough and solves the problem. Furthermore (maybe another issue), I miss a way to manually relocate every label with the mouse (this can be done in MS Excel), which would also solve the problem.

HI I've set the Placement to "center" and its works fine.
@IHA: The 3D default settings for data labels sometimes are not so clear. Pls have a look.

I had already tried the center option and the result is not as expected, nor works for me (maybe I didn't explain very clearly that I had tried all placement options). In case of doubt, I have created a new attachment of a snapshot showing how it should look like. Apart, there are pending questions about relocation. I find the exposed things too serious to be treated as a "dirty workaround", so take the necessary time and tests to fix the problem. Let's not sacrifice the quality of the product in the (hopefully) near future.
The wrong default for label placement in 3D bar charts is corrected with issue 91037. The manual relocation of data labels is targeted with issue 48170. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 91037 ***
